Conflict Resolution Policy

Please review our policies carefully and let us know if you have any questions

Georgetown Impact Policies

Georgetown Impact Volleyball Club is committed to achievement at the highest possible level.  As a club that strives to develop winning teams at an elite level of competition, there will always be a risk of disagreement and even conflict among parents, athletes and coaches. Our priority is to anticipate this risk and respond in a manner that leads to resolution and understanding should conflict arise. To this end, we ask that all parents acknowledge and follow the policy described below.

  1. Georgetown Impact Volleyball Club expects that all its members, including all athletes and their parents, will behave in a manner that is respectful of others and conductive to effective discussion.

  2. Observe a cooling-off period of 24-hours between the cause of the concern and approaching the parent rep.

  3. Conflict is best resolved through dialogue and communication. Therefore, when a concern arises, contact with the team manager should be made to share the concern (following the 24-hour cooling off period).

  4. Keep the number of participants in the discussion to a minimum. Do not broadcast the dispute or enlist participation from others.

  5. Do not attempt to resolve the dispute during practice time.

  6. Do not approach the coaching staff with concerns about playing time. That is a conversation that should involve coaches and players only.

  7. If not satisfied with the response of the team manager, parents should contact the coach directly and arrange a meeting to discuss. The team manager may be asked to be present at this meeting.

  8. If still not satisfied with the response, contact shall be made with a member of the Club Executive to discuss the matter.

  9. In the event that a coach has an issue with a player or parent, he/she will advise the Club Executive and then initiate a private conversation. The Executive will make a decision about the appropriate action to take.
