15U Girls Black Team Wins Gold at Select Challenge Cup!

December 8, 2018 – Coming off a gold medal win in their last Championship tournament, our Impact 15U Black team entered Select division for the second time in their playing careers.  Seeded 3rd in the morning pool play, the girls struggled mightily in the first match and ended up losing in straight sets to Storm Tsunami.  The girls took advantage of their break to reset mentally while grabbing a snack to refuel.  The snacks must have been good as the girls proceeded to win every set for the rest of the tournament!  Falling in straight sets were:  Reach Apex in pool play, Titans Black in quarterfinals, Barrie Elites Black in semi’s and finally Phoenix Legacy in the Gold Medal match.  Strong serving, overpowering attacks and relentless defence carried the day for our Impact girls.  With the win, the girls move up to 11th place in the Province and into the top 9 teams for the Premier division event to be held on January 26th.  Keep working hard ladies!

15U Girls Black Team Wins Gold at 16U Provincial Cup!

November 24, 2018 – Last year’s Division 3-Tier 2, 15U Gold medal at the Provincial Championship put the girls ranked #81 coming into the 16U season and slotted them in the Trillium Division of the 16U Provincial Cup held in Kitchener.  In the morning pool play, our girls made quick work of both Defensa White 15U and Lakeside Isihlangu to win their pool.  In a spirited quarterfinals, our girls beat Etobicoke Waves White in straight sets 25-10, 25-9 sending their opponents down to the consolation bracket.  This win setup a semi-final match against the Ancaster Lions 15U team featuring a couple of tall hitters who had dominated their earlier matches.  In the first set our Impact girls quickly established a solid net presence and shutdown the Ancaster attack, turning away a series of attacks from the Ancaster hitters and jumping out to a 15-4 lead.  Strong serving and attacks from Georgetown ended the first set 25-12 and they quickly closed out the match with a 25-13 second set win.  In the Gold medal match the girls faced the #1 ranked Peel Selects and secured the Gold with wins of 25-18 and 25-22.
The girls now move up to Championship Division ranked #57 at their next 16U tournament on January 12th.

15U Girls Black Team Wins Gold at 15U Provincial Cup!

November 3, 2018 – After finishing their successful 14U season in 25th place out of 159 teams, our Impact 15U Black team was looking to start strong in the new season.  Our girls came in ranked #1 in the Championship Division tournament held in Maple, ON where they defeated both Lakeside and Northern Chill in straight sets in morning pool play.  After a long lunch break waiting for their quarterfinal match up with Milton Edge, the girls came out very slowly and dropped the first set of the quarterfinals.  A quick mental reset had the girls back on the winning path taking the next two sets to move on to the semi-finals vs. North Bay’s Vision VC.  Our girls took that match in 2 quick sets and moved onto the Gold Medal Match.  In the final match of the day vs. Hamilton’s Smash Legacy, our girls suffered a hard fought loss in the first set before bouncing back to secure the win.  The girls now move up to Select division on December 8th - ranked #13 in the Province!  Thanks to Coaches Sarah and Dave for making the trip east and sorry for the additional gray hairs!

14U Girls Black Team Wins Gold at 15U Bugarski Cup!

Congratulations to the 14U Girls Black team for winning Gold, playing up in the 15U Bugarski Cup in Newmarket on March 3, 2018.  Playing in a 12-team tournament, the Impact girls took care of business winning their pool without losing a set in the morning.  The quarter finals saw the girls beat Markham Unity in straight sets.  This set up a hard fought semi-finals vs. the #59th ranked Kawartha Krushers. In the match of the day the Impact girls fought hard taking the 3-set match from the higher ranked team and moved into the Gold Medal match.  In the finals, our girls faced a rematch of their morning pool opponents in the Etobicoke Titans.  After taking the Titans in 2 straight sets in the morning, the Impact girls started slowly and soon found themselves down 1 set to zero.  The dynamic coaching duo of Chapin and Chapin whispered magical words of wisdom between sets.  Thus encouraged, the girls took the play to the Titans and won the final 2 sets to secure the GOLD.  With the win, the girls move onto the Ontario Championships in Waterloo next month.

14U Girls Black Team Wins Silver at 14U Bugarski Cup!

Congratulations to the 14U Girls Black team for winning Silver, playing in the Bugarski Cup in Markham February 17, 2018.  The Impact Black girls came into the tournament ranked first and won their pool without losing a set in the morning.  The morning play also saw the first meeting of the season with their sister team - Impact Red girls.  The quarter finals saw the girls beat Markham Revolution in straight sets folllowed by a hard 3 set win vs. Galaxy Eclipse in the semi's.  On to the gold medal match they went to face off again Storm Tsunami.  In the set of the year,  the Impact girls fought a back and forth battle that finally ended 35-33 in favour of Impact.  Set 2 was another long one with Tsunami taking it 25-23 moving the match to a final 3rd set.  Impact fought hard but fatigue from the long semi's and the first two sets of the finals began to wear down the injury depleted squad.  Ultimately, the girls lost 15-13 in the final set but took home the Silver medal.

Impact Black finished the OVA season with 2 Golds and 1 Silver.   The girls now move onto the Ontario Championships in Waterloo next month.
